Sapphire Universe

by: Devon Herrera

Rule #1 Do NOT ignore the signs.
Rule #2 Pay attention.
Rule #3 The less they know about you, the harder it is for them to hurt you.
Rule #4 Comfort is dangerous. It can be taken away.
Rule #5 Need is a handicap. It can cripple you.
Rule #6 He isn’t what he seems. Don’t trust him.

Simple rules made for a simple purpose. Nina Ryan learned early on in life that if you want to avoid being hurt, you need to be proactive. If you pay attention the Universe will always steer you in the right direction. It will help keep you safe. So, she follows the rules, and she is safe. Until Connor Wright barges his way through all her carefully laid defenses and threatens to destroy the comfortable life she has created. Faithfully following her #1 rule, Nina tries to accept that the Universe has pushed Connor and her lives together for a purpose. Determined to make Nina his, Connor chips away at the walls Nina has placed around her heart and her secrets. Is Nina following the signs that will lead her down the right path, or does Connor hold secrets of his own that will ruin Nina for good? Only the Universe knows.

Sapphire Universe is a story about taking time in life to watch for the signs, listen to the Universe and believe that what is meant to be, will be.  All it took was one morning where everything went wrong for Nina to end up on the bus to work, it was a bus ride that changed her life. This is a New Adult novel,  (not paranormal story like I thought based off the cover/title alone) just in case you were like me and let this pass you by at first glance, go back and pick this up and try it out (you will be glad you did)

Devon Herrera did a great job writing her main characters, Connor and Nina, I truly enjoyed their journey falling into friendship and then into love.  As much as I liked the characters in this book (LOVE Connor) I really enjoyed the banter & dialogue, it came off as natural and honest (funny and heartfelt too).  Sapphire Universe was a very sweet read about following the path the Universe has set out for us, and finding your way to love.  However, Devon shakes it up a bit with suspense and drama thrown in JUST when you think the story might be slowing down and gives a whole other story to dive into with these characters.  (It is almost like reading 2 books, almost)

Reading Sapphire Universe and meeting the interesting set of secondary characters you can only hope that Devon Herrera will pick them for her next books.  I would really like to see what other wonderful things she can come up with and throw at these characters.  (I would also love to get a sneak back into Connor and Nina's life too).  Regardless of what she decides to write next, I am a fan and will be waiting (impatiently) to see what she publishes next.  If you are looking for a sweet story to fall in to love with that has a bit of spice and action, this is a book for you!

I’m writhing beneath him as he plucks and strums my body like an instrument and he’s the world’s most talented musician. He trails one hand further down my body and I don’t think, don’t even want to try to stop him. He slips his hands into my pants and groans when he finds me bare there as well as soaking wet. The second he comes in contact with my sensitive flesh, I know I’m close. The rope that’s building inside of me is coiling tighter and tighter to the point of snapping. When he finds the little bundle of nerves that’s practically humming with tension, my body bows off the bed and I feel his words against my skin.

Author Info:

I am a wife of a U.S Army Soldier and mother of a beautiful little girl. I work for the Wyoming Department of Revenue in Cheyenne Wyoming, and no we don't still ride horses out here. I've been in love with reading since I first discovered the Harry Potter series in 4th grade. I don't just read a good book I devour it. After reading hundreds of novels I finally bit the bullet and sat down to write one of my own. I had an idea in my head and as soon as I started writing, the story seemed to play out right infront of me. Nothing has ever felt so natural. About 10 chapters into it I decided that I was going to take the plunge and get it self published as an Ebook. "Sapphire Universe" is a Contemporary Romance novel for adults, because lets face it, I'm female. Romance is what I like to read so it's what I'm going to write. I'll be posting some teasers and keeping you up to date on my progress as I finish writing and editing. Thank you so much for your support, and I can't wait for you to read "Sapphire Universe."
