Blog Tour Review & Interview: CURSIVE by Phoebe Lane

CURSIVE

by:  Phoebe Lane

Synopsis:

The past pulls. The future shoves. The present just begs for a time-out.

Aislynn Currington is searching for an escape from her tumultuous past, one that includes a severely broken heart and a very complicated relationship with a mother who uses criticism as her preferred mode of expressing love.

Jace Quinn is a driven businessman who, even after surviving a serious life-changing event, remains hell bent on avoiding any form of serious attachment.

Some define insanity as doing things repeatedly while expecting a different outcome. What will Aislynn and Jace need to do to break this endless loop?

With the help of their undeniably intense sexual attraction, witty banter, and love for high-end coffee machines, Aislynn and Jace learn to bravely battle through the challenges of falling in love at the most inconvenient time, in a place they did not plan to be, and with the person they can’t seem to stop running into.
Cursive's multiple layers of drama, romance, passion, and humor are tightly bound together by an unforeseeable major twist that will keep the reader engaged and connected until the very end.

Review:

Star Rating:  4 out of 5

Heat Rating:  SPICY!!

I loved the definition in the beginning of the book:

CURSIVE: written when characters are joined

Phoebe Lane's debut novel Cursive is an excellent book to pick up and get lost in.  Her writing flows, the characters are interesting and the dialogue is witty and fun.  Phoebe Lane has joined all this in a book that is hard to put down.

I found myself more than once wanting to hang out with Aislynn, Jace, Evan and Ellie.  The characters in Cursive came across as three dimensional characters that you really can understand, relate to and fall in love with (except for Phoebe's mom, I am still mad at her).

Cursive is a story about how even when you think you are lost and broken, love can sneak in.  Aislynn and Jace had to let go of their past hurts and live in the present before they could see that great things can happen when you least expect it.  The journey Aislynn goes through to get to Jace will pull at your heart strings, make you sigh and leave you amazed.  (The epilogue.... sigh.  I LOVED it).

This is no simple story of two people falling in love, it is a ride that you have to take to truly understand the brilliance of Phoebe Lane's writing.  If you are looking for a book that has a touch of drama, a dash of angst and a interesting twist all rolled into a wonderful story about love and letting go, Cursive is the perfect fit.  I can not wait to see what else Phoebe Lane comes up with next, she is definitely a must buy author for me!

Meet the Author:

I have a pretty average life. I wear the mom hat, the wife shirt, the daughter pants, and the working woman peep-toe heels. But when I strip all of that down, I am an author.

I'm still amazed I get to say that.

I live in the US with a wonderful husband, two kids, and a dog. My husband entertains me with his hilarious form of ADD, and the kids are hell bent on proving I can live with only a few hours of sleep per day. I wake up every day just so I can experience that first sip of coffee in the morning. I swore off Disney movies the moment I watched Mufasa die, which scarred me for life. No pun intended. I pick out all the orange flavored pieces from my candy and feed them to my hubby.

I'm emotionally dynamic and of peculiar mind which is code for "hormonal and crazy." Reading contemporary romance novels is my vice, and writing them is my most valued privilege. My debut novel, Cursive, is currently available as an eBook on Amazon/B&N/Kobo/iBooks.

Interview with Phoebe Lane:

1.  What kind of snack/drink is a MUST for you when writing?

I am obsessed with XXX Vitamin Water. I have to pace myself and only buy it every few weeks. I usually need a bit of alcohol in my system when I'm writing sex scenes-- my fave is a Snake Bite (half lager, half hard cider).

2.  What made you start writing?

I love to read and I have a very visual mind. Tell me something and I will immediately create a very detailed mental image in my head. The plot for Cursive would not leave me so I decided to put it down on paper.

3.. What is your biggest inspiration source (where do you get your ideas)

Like many other authors, music is a big inspiration. There's always that one song, that one lyric, that touches me in deep way and makes my mind spin. I also do a lot of people watching. It's my husband's fault, really. It provides a lot of ideas.

4.  Describe your perfect writing space? and where do you actually write?

My perfect writing space and my actual one are at completely opposite ends of the spectrum. Ideal space: out in a back porch, 70 degree weather, sunny, big comfy chair and desk, ocean in front of me, drink by my side. Reality: kitchen table, two toddlers running around screaming their heads off, Nick Jr as background music, average rate of interruptions: 4 per minute.

5.  Is writing your full time job? If not, what else do you do?

Writing is not my full time job, although I wish it was. I'm actually a superhero by day. I can't tell you which one, but my cape is pink and by mask has sparkles.

6.  What is one surprising fact about you, that not too many people know?

I can read my kindle and iphone in the shower and not get it wet. I can even wash my hair while doing it. That is my one and only talent in life.

7.  What are you writing now?

I'm  doing research for book two. I haven't written anything since I finished Cursive. I'm a bit scared, but I'm hoping it will be a case of "once you learn to ride a bike..." and all that jazz.

8.  What is the first Romance book you remember reading?  What is the last book you read?

First romance book: as a teen and pre-teen I used to read the Sweet Dreams romance books. It just took me an hour of searching my brain's memory drive to remember that (it didn't work, by the way; thank God for Google).

As an adult I got reintroduced to the wonderful world of romance novels by Bet Me by Jennifer Cruise and then... then I met Christian Grey.

Last romance book I read was Exquisite by Ella Frank.

9.  Who is your current book boyfriend/crush?

I love Christian Grey, Bennett Ryan (Beautiful Bastard), Gideon, and Max (Beautiful Stranger).

10. What was the last book you read that gave you a "book hangover?"

Hopeless by Colleen Hoover. This was months ago and I still haven't recovered. It's serious. Someone call for help. But send someone besides the superhero with pink cape and sparkles
