Blog Tour Reviews & Giveaway: THREE OF HEARTS & THREE OF SPADES by W. Ferraro

Three of Hearts

(Hamden book #1)

by: W. Ferraro

Synopsis:

Mae Turney is searching for the type of life and happiness she has
never known but has only dreamed about. She's fortunate enough to find a great opportunity to live in an exterior apartment of a beautiful lake house in a small town in Vermont. When she realizes the apartment and scenery are not the only gorgeous appeal but the home owner, Seth Finn, is as well, she puts it all on the line for the chance at love.

When she becomes comfortable and confident in her own skin and
sexuality, Mae realizes that this place and this man is exactly what
she came looking for. Knowing Seth and his three children are as
special as they come, Mae bets the house, and prays she and her gamble are enough.

Three of Hearts, (the first book in the new Hamden series by W. Ferraro), is a light hearted and emotional read about two very real people: Mae and Seth. Mae is looking for a home and place where she can belong. Seth is still getting over the loss of his wife, from 5 years earlier, while trying to raise three children. This is a great love story where the reader gets to fall in love along with Mae, Seth and the children, but also we get to fall in love with the other characters that live in beautiful Hamden.

The chemistry between Seth and Mae was a bit fast (and HOT) but that doesn’t bother me, sometimes when you find the right person, you want to be with that person. Throughout the story the reader gets a real sense of who Mae is and how truly genuine she is. Mae loves Seth's kids and would do whatever it takes for her loved ones. I really liked her character and really enjoyed getting to know her throughout this book.

Seth, on the other hand, kind of pissed me off. He was loving and so reassuring that Mae was not a replacement through a lot of the book, then made and HUGE mistake when he blows up during the climax of the book. (I won’t spoil it). I really had a hard time getting back into the groove of the book after this episode and will admit I tossed my Kindle on the couch and stormed off for chocolate.

After I got over my temper tantrum about characters not doing what I want in a book, I kept reading and truly enjoyed the way everything resolved. I got a little misty towards the end; ending this story with a long sigh of satisfaction that I got the ending these characters deserved.

Overall, this was a GREAT first book by W. Ferraro. I truly enjoyed reading this book and think that this is definitely something you should put in your “to-be-read” pile.  I am certainly looking forward to reading the next books in this series (I do LOVE a series about a town of characters I enjoy). This is a nice read that leaves you with a light heart and hope that their is always room for love and happily ever after in your life.

Three of Spades

 (Hamden #2)

by: W. Ferraro

Synopsis:

Dylan Cross is the type of man that enjoys everything female, and
enjoy it he does, but always on his terms. However, his terms are
pushed to their limit when Natalie Parker proposes an offer; teach her and her delectable little body, all about sex and desire. There is one catch. He has to play the part of Natalie’s madly in love boyfriend for her dying mother. Dylan signs on, and finds that separating the two is harder than he thought. Natalie’s days of shyness and lack of confidence come to a quick close as she learns what her body craves and demands in the bedroom. Soon, Dylan becomes the student as Natalie teaches him things he didn’t even know he wanted.

Will Hamden’s notorious playboy, bachelor be able to keep calling the shots, or will he find that, he, himself, is just another player at the card game of life, as we all are?

Three of Spades is the second book in the Hamden series and can be read as a stand alone book (but I would read Three of Hearts first, so you have all the background information on what has been happening in Hamden)

Dylan, Hamden's local bad boy, is the next of the best friends to fall victim to love.  This motorcycle riding, playboy that has a short attention span when it comes to relationships is finally brought to his knees by one sweet, innocent, Kindergarten teacher named Natalie.  I love watching a bad boy/player fall in love, especially with a character so far from his usual tastes and Three of Spades definitely delivers!

W. Ferraro has written another great story that has strong characters that hold family in high regard.  While the playboy/virgin is not my favorite of story lines, Three of Spades does a great job focusing on the growth of the character's feelings for one another and how they both are struggling to admit they want more than their original "arrangement".

This story hits all the notes; it was a quick read, with a splash of mystery, humor, romance and HOT scenes to make for a an enjoyable evening of reading.  Even though you may how the story is going to end (it is romance, we expect the HEA) it is always nice when the reader gets a few surprises along the way and Mrs. Ferraro gives a few twists to keep the reader on their toes.

W. Ferraro has done a fantastic job writing the Hamden series and I love getting peeks into Wes and Lola's upcoming story as well as getting to revisit Mae and Seth (and of course, the kids).  I can't wait to to keep learning about the men of Hamden and will be snatching up Three of Diamonds as soon as I can!
