PICKING UP THE PIECES by Elizabeth Hayley: Blog Tour Review, Excerpt & Giveaway

After a myriad of mistakes and a devastating breakup, Lily Hamilton is no longer the impulsive, selfish person she had once been. Now, she longs for the chance to make it up to the one person she knows holds the key to her happiness. But can he get beyond who she was and love her for who she is now? Or is history destined to repeat itself?

Adam Carter has gone through his own metamorphosis. His days of serial monogamy are long gone, and he's been burying his hurt by dating women he has no intention of committing to. But when he sees Lily for the first time in months, he's reminded of the man he used to be; the man he wants to try and be again--for her.

Max Samson is on the downward spiral from hell. Drinking and meaningless sex have taken over his life once again, causing him to revert back to the man he'd been before Lily fell into his life. But when his mother invites Lily back into his world, he suddenly remembers how good it felt to have her there. Even if he might not get to keep her.

Find out how Lily gets her happily ever after in this final installment of her story. This book is recommended for mature audiences due to language and unbelievably awesome sexual content.

Just then, the buzzer rang. I walked over to the intercom and held down the button. “Hello?”
“Hey, Lily. It’s me.”
I could hear the smile in his voice. It made me melt a little. “Me who?”
“Uh, hopefully the only guy you’re expecting tonight.”

Even though his voice was playful, I immediately regretted teasing him when I heard his response. I wondered if his mind had traveled where mine did: to the fact that there had been times when he hadn’t been the only guy who had made visits to my apartment. Dropping my head slightly, I tried to compose myself quickly before I replied. You’re not that girl anymore. You won’t fuck up this time. I lifted my head and interjected happiness into my voice. “I’ll be right down.”

*This is book two in a series and you MUST read Pieces of Perfect first, since Picking Up the Pieces is a continuation of book one.  Here is my review of Pieces of Perfect*

Picking Up the Pieces picks up after Pieces of Perfect left us all breathless and in shock.  Right off the bat I knew I was going to have a love/hate issue with Lily and her men, love triangle stress me out but this one is written so well, it is easy to forget you should be torn in your decision.  I will admit that I liked how Elizabeth Hayley ended Pieces of Perfect and was actually fine with how they ended that story, I really would have been content with Pieces of Perfect being the end of the road for these characters.  However, I am glad they decided to give us more!

I was hesitant to start Picking Up the Pieces because I knew who Lily ended up with in my mind and I was afraid that the wonderful ladies that make up Elizabeth Hayley might not get "my story" right.  Such a silly reason to fear picking up a book, right?  Well I am glad I did sit down and read Picking Up the Pieces!  It gave me everything I didn't realize I was missing and a wonderful story that left me satisfied, weepy and laughing at some of the fantastic one-liners.

Since this is a second book in a series (which left us dangling after the first book) I am hesitant to say more about the story other than if you read Pieces of Perfect you NEED to read this book, don't be afraid like I was, jump in and get wrapped up in the Lily drama all over again!

Elizabeth Hayley does a wonderful job of entertaining the reader with their witty, snarky, and off the wall dialogue while keeping up the tension and sexiness along the way.  I loved the vulgar, foul-mouthed characters and really enjoyed getting to know more about each of the three main characters with with multiple POVs.  The writing is funny, fast paced and full of emotional situations that really push the characters and reader.

I am a fan of Elizabeth Hayley and I would LOVE to get one more book with Lily and her final choice.  There is a great sneak peak into their next spin off book in this series at the end of Picking Up the Pieces and while I can't wait to read that, I really want more from Lily and "the winner" *hint*.

If you read Pieces of Perfect you are going to be overjoyed with Picking Up the Pieces.  If you haven't read this series, fear not the cliffhanger in Pieces of Perfect and grab both of these great books and get started reading.  I would love to hear who you think Lily should pick and what you thought about how it all turned out!

Elizabeth Hayley is actually "Elizabeth" and "Hayley," two friends who love reading romance novels to obsessive levels. This mutual love prompted them to put their English degrees to good use by penning their own. The product is Pieces of Perfect, their debut novel. They learned a ton about one another through the process, like how they clearly share a brain and have a persistent need to text each other constantly (much to their husbands' chagrin).

"Elizabeth" lives with her husband, one and a half year old daughter, and nutjob of a dog. “Hayley” lives with her husband and their own crazy dog. They are hoping to adopt a newborn soon.
Elizabeth Hayley's writing motto is best captured by the words of Patrick Dennis: "I always start with a clean piece of paper and a dirty mind."
