ALASKA. In America’s last wilderness there is no limits to what a man can do.
For detective Nick Brodie, that means keeping the perps off the streets of Anchorage 24/7. Nick has never backed down from danger, but after the horrors he’s seen, he’s definitely in need of a break.
Samantha Hollis never thought she’d meet anyone like Nick, especially in a place like Las Vegas. But after one reckless, passionate night, she discovers the charismatic stranger is everything she wants in a man. But can he ever be more than a one-night stand?
When Nick invites her to Alaska, Samantha decides to find out, never guessing the depths she’ll discover in him or the tangle of murder, kidnapping, and danger about to engulf them both …

INTERVIEW WITH KAT MARTIN:
Do you write to a soundtrack or specific type of music?
Heaven’s no! I like my quiet. Perfect solitude is my favorite way to write. No music, no TV.
What’s the most memorable character that you have ever written?
I think Chance McLain in The Secret, my Montana cowboy, is one that sticks in my mind. The most different and interesting is probably Patrick Donovan, my hero in Season of Strangers--Patrick was from another planet!
What book/series was your favorite to write?
My AGAINST series is definitely my favorite. Love writing the hot, hunky guys, giving them big stories, then finding each a woman smart and strong enough to handle him.
What draws you to romantic suspense?
I love the freedom to think of all sorts of different stories. I like the challenge of finding my way out of the trouble I create. I like the broader use of language writing contemporary novels allows.
What do you do with with the stuff that gets “edited” out of your books? Do you keep it or do you consider it gone for good?
Very little gets edited out. I work in my head before I write it down. When I come to the end of the book, I am pretty much finished. Plus I tend to add rather than subtract in a story.
Who is your favorite Author?
For Romantic Suspense, I would pick Nora Roberts. I also like Laura Griffin. For Historical, Joanna Bourne. Lots of other authors, too, but many no longer write.
What was last thing read?
I just finished Dana Marton, My Spy. Good author.
When you are not writing, what are you doing (any hobbies or guilty pleasures)?
I like to travel. We are just back from Washington DC where we were invited to attend the swearing in ceremony of our new Congressman. Got to stay at the old and beautiful Willard Hotel. I’m a real foodie, too. Lots of good restaurants in DC.
What is your favorite way to interact with your fans? (social media, conventions, emails, letters..)
I love to get email from readers. I do chats and I’m on Facebook a lot. Love to have any of my readers stop by for a visit (and give me a like!).
What are you working on now? What’s coming next for the Brodies of Alaska series?
Finishing up on AGAINST THE TIDE, Rafe Brodie and Liz Chandler. It’s a big, action packed adventure I’m really hoping readers will like. After that I’ll be working on the Brodie cousins who work as detectives in Seattle
