Livy has never known pure desire like this. The gorgeous Miller Hart captivates her, seduces her, and worships her in deliciously sinful ways. He knows her innermost thoughts, drawing her ever deeper into his dangerous world.
Miller will do anything to keep Livy safe, even if it means risking his own life. But his dark history isn't the only thing that threatens their future together. As the truth of Livy's family legacy unravels, an unsettling parallel between past and present comes to light. Her world spinning out of control, Livy finds herself caught between the rapture of an all-consuming love-and a deadly obsession that could destroy them both . . .
**This is not a stand alone book. You must read the first two books in the series to fully enjoy and understand One Night Unveiled. Be warned, reading this review before reading the other books in this trilogy could cause spoilers (maybe).**
One Night Unveiled wraps up the One Night trilogy where we have gotten to know Miller and Olivia. I binge read the first two books (One Night Promised and One Night Denied) a couple of weeks ago but found myself hesitant to start reading One Night Unveiled. I was hesitant, because I was enjoying this series but after book two I wasn't really sure what to expect in book three. Were all my questions going to be answered? Would this trilogy fizzle out or explode my Kindle with awesomeness? Finally curiosity got to me and I dived back in to the drama that is Miller and Olivia.
It took me a week to read this story. I found myself reading other books in the middle of reading this book for a break. While I enjoyed getting to know more about Miller and his life, this story did drag on (hot sex helped, but even that got a bit much). Jodi Ellen Malpas writes amazing characters, full of issues and needs that just beg the reader to love them. Miller was a great character. I enjoyed his OCD quirks and his crazy possessiveness of his things. Olivia started as a great character and then somewhere in the middle of book two I lost her. I felt disconnected to her and really couldn't understand some of her erratic and crazed behaviors. Olivia's best feature was her loyalty and once she decided to be Miller's I am glad that she stopped fighting and running.
It is hard to review the last book of a series, because at this point all three books have joined as one in my mind (if that makes sense). I enjoyed this journey with Miller and Olivia, I liked that this was different enough from the This Man series that I didn't have to compare the two. While I loved Miller's story and all the twists and surprises Jodi Ellen Malpas gave us in One Night Unveiled, I was a bit disappointed in this last installment. One Night Unveiled went on too long and it just seemed to take forever to get to the resolution (however, once things started heating up at the end it was hard to put down).
Trilogies are tricky, it is hard to keep the momentum through three books of 400+ pages each and while I felt parts dragged I enjoyed seeing how Olivia and Miller worked everything out in the end (especially the endearing epilogue). If you are a fan of this series, you need to read One Night Unveiled to finish Miller's story. If you have read and loved Jodi's This Man series then I bet you will like the intensity, the angst and the drama of the One Night series too. I am a fan of Jodi's writing and her intense alpha men, so I will be interested to see what she comes out with next and ready to 1-click on release day.
