**Cover Reveal** SINCERELY, CARTER by Whitney G.

COMING APRIL 2015!

SYNOPSIS:

Just friends.
We’re just friends.
No, really. She’s just my best friend...

Arizona Turner has been my best friend since fourth grade, even when we “hated” each other. We’ve been there for one another through first kisses, first “times,” and we’ve been each other’s constant when good relationships turned bad. (We even went to colleges that were minutes away from each other…)

Throughout the years, and despite what anyone says, we’ve never crossed the line.

Never thought about it.
Never wanted to.

Until one night changed everything.
At least, it should’ve ...

Just friends.
We’re just friends.
I’m only saying this until I figure out if she’s still “just” my best friend…

**BookSlapped Blog Tour: Review & Giveaway** LEAVING AMARILLO (Neon Dreams #1) by Caisey Quinn

SYNOPSIS:

Dixie Lark hasn’t had it easy. She lost her parents in an accident when she was young and grew up in a ramshackle house on a dirt road in Amarillo with her ailing grandparents and overprotective older brother. Thanks to her grandfather, Dixie learned to play a mean fiddle, inspired by the sounds of the greats—Johnny and June, Waylon, and Hank. Her grandfather’s fiddle changed Dixie’s life forever, giving her an outlet for the turmoil of her broken heart and inspiring a daring dream.

Ten years later, Dixie and her brother Dallas are creating the music they love and chasing fame with their hot band, LEAVING AMARILLO. But Dixie isn’t enjoying the ride. All she can think about is Gavin Garrison, the band’s tattooed, tortured drummer who she’s loved since they were kids. She knows he feels the connection between them, but he refuses see her as more than his best friend’s little sister.

Convinced that one night with Gavin will get him out of her system, Dixie devises a plan. She doesn’t know that her brother has forbidden Gavin from making a move on her—a promise he swore he’d always keep—a promise that once broken will unexpectedly change the future for Dixie, Gavin and the band. Will Dixie and Gavin risk it all for a possible love neither has ever thought possible?

Complex and full of emotion, Quinn’s beautifully crafted novel perfectly interweaves a mix of engaging characters, a heartfelt love story, and an incredible tribute to musicians—their ambition, dreams, and love of music. LEAVING AMARILLO will have readers eager to turn the next page and root for Dixie and the band as success and fame are only a few steps away.

EXTRAS:

Caisey Quinn’s Inspiration for the Neon Dreams series

Not too long ago (barely over a year), I took a trip to Nashville with some friends. It was one of those last minute “oh my gosh, we have to see this super big artist doing a concert in a tiny venue because they just Tweeted that they’ll be there” type road trips. Unplanned, beef jerky, big gulps, and random road mix cd style adventure. My favorite kind.

However, by the time we arrived at the venue it was packed. Literally. Wall to wall crammed, people spilling out onto the sidewalk, full to maximum capacity packed. Apparently we weren’t the only ones who caught word that a big name artist was going to be there.

Sigh.

We decided to just check out a few local spots instead. In a bar called Crossroads we got comfy, ordered drinks, and started chatting about how bummed we were that we didn’t get to see the original artist we intended to. I can’t even remember now who it was. Here’s why.

As we’re ordering a second—okay, maybe a third—round and deciding if we’re going to just call it a night and get a hotel room or head home (Birmingham is only about three hours away), this glorious sound fills the air. No, it pierces the air, rips through it and grabs everyone in hearing range by the eardrums.

Our conversation—along with many others—ceased instantly. Chill bumps ran up my arms even though it was quite warm and I was wearing a jacket.

Most of the patrons gaped in awe as this young woman played the fiddle as if she’d been born to do that and only that. It was the solo from “Devil Went Down to Georgia” by the Charlie Daniels band and she was rocking it beyond comprehension. Pretty sure even the bartenders stopped what they were doing. The rest of the night was a little blurry, but I know we didn’t leave until that band had played their entire set.

We ended up getting a hotel room but none of us slept. All we could talk about was that band and how amazing they were and how we were kicking ourselves that we didn’t get their name so we could check them out online and hear more. I still look for them when I’m in Nashville and one day I fully expect to hear them on the radio. Whoever they are, they will forever be the band that inspired the Neon Dreams series.

REVIEW:

I fell in love with Caisey Quinn two years ago when I opened Girl with Guitar (the Kylie Ryans series) and was instantly addicted.  If you follow me on this blog (or anywhere else), you know my love of Caisey Quinn and her writing, so getting my hands on Leaving Amarillo was like my birthday coming 6 months early!  I have a big soft spot for Kylie Ryans (from Girl with Guitar) but I have to say I think Dixie Lark is my new favorite character!  I don't have the words for how much I loved Dixie and her fiddle but I will try, because Leaving Amarillo is a book you MUST read!

Caisey Quinn makes everything she writes seem so real, from being a struggling musician to a young girl who just can't take the wanting any longer and lays out what she wants from the boy she has loved for years.  I was fascinated from the first chapter and I was addicted.  I was sneaking in reading Leaving Amarillo in the carpool lanes, while waiting for dinner to cook, while my kids were doing homework; if I had a free minute my eyes were gobbling this story up!  Then at 80% I stopped reading.  Follow me here for a minute...  Have you ever read a book so good that you were afraid for it to end?  You are watching the percent left get smaller and you just know that there is no way all that you need from this story is going to get done?  I had this moment and I stopped reading for 3 days because I didn't want to be done with these characters.  I knew going in this was a series, and knowing Caisey, I knew there would be questions left to be answered for the next installment, but with this book it was like saying goodbye to friends.  (Yes.  I am a big dork).  However, I got over myself and devoured the last 20% and cried, had my heart broken and my spirits lifted.  Damn, this was an excellent start to a series!  Caisey Quinn is magical; her lyrics and creativity are simply amazing.

While Dixie stole the show, the characters in this book were so rich and layered.  Gavin!  Ugh.  I just want to hug Gavin and mother him to death.  Gavin is a character I can't wait to get more from, I loved how he was loyal and struggled with what he really wanted and what he craved because of a promise.  Caisey Quinn does such a excellent job creating characters that are bent (not broken) angsty, and slightly tortured.  Her characters come off as genuine, real and people you could actually run across in real life.  I loved the cast of Leaving Amarillo, and while I can't wait to get to know Dallas (Dixie's brother) better in book 2, I really need to check in with my girl Dixie too.

Leaving Amarillo is brilliant.  The plot was different that what you expect from a "band/rocker" book and the writing is phenomenal.  Caisey Quinn knows how to pull on your heartstrings, heat up your Kindle, make you wish you had musical talent and effortlessly has you fall in love with this cast of characters.  If you have never read Caisey Quinn then you are in for such a treat!  (and after you devour Leaving Amarillo, I HIGHLY suggest the Kylie Ryan books too).  Fans of Caisey Quinn, you know you are getting a good book when you pick this up but, Leaving Amarillo is special.  There is just something about Dixie Lark that will stay with me until the next book and probably longer, this story resonates inside you.  Basically, Caisey Quinn nailed it!

Stop whatever you are reading/doing and go 1-click Leaving Amarillo.  You are going to love Dixie, Gavin and Dallas.  Leaving Amarillo is one of the BEST books I have read this year, I promise you won't be disappointed!

**Release Day Review**: THE MISS MIRREN MISSION by Jenny Holiday

SYNOPSIS:

Loving her would be his downfall…

To society, the Earl of Blackstone cuts a mysterious figure. He is eligible, withdrawn, and endlessly fascinating. Yet as an integral part of London’s underground spy ring intent on defeating Napoleon, Blackstone has no mistress but the cause.

Miss Emily Mirren is considered “unbiddable” by the ton. She wields a fierce intellect, which she channels into her own secret cause—writing an abolitionist newspaper column under a male pseudonym.

When Emily’s aims clash with Blackstone’s, they stray into a dangerous game of attraction and subterfuge, and secrets are the going currency. And in order to complete the most important mission of his career, Blackstone must thwart Emily, even if it breaks both their hearts.

REVIEW:

Historical Romance was my first love in reading, back when I had to swipe my Mom's paperbacks off her nightstand and read them in secret.  Over the last few years I have drifted away from this genre, or to be fair, I have gotten pickier about what historical romances I read, but every now and then a new historical catches my eye and have to read it.  The Miss Mirren Mission was the next book I "had to read".  I read a contemporary romance by Jenny Holiday a month ago, Sleeping with Her Enemy, and fell in LOVE with Jenny's writing so when I had the chance to read her new book (even being a historical book) I jumped at it!

The Miss Mirren Mission was a fast paced and very entertaining story.  I loved Emily's (Miss Mirren) character!  She was spunky, out spoken, free spirited and independent; very different from her peers of the ton.  Jenny Holiday gave her characters depth and richness while creatively revealing their pasts and personalities as the story unfolded.  Once the Earl of Blackstone and Emily meet I was enchanted with their chemistry.  These two characters were a joy to read and learn about, both had trauma in their pasts and were fighting to right wrongs in their own way, while struggling not to fall for one another.

The Miss Mirren Mission was a clever book that I enjoyed from start to finish!  You have spies, intrigue, reformation, humor, charm and a bit of heat!  I can't wait to get more from this series!  Jenny Holiday once again showed me that she is a fabulous writer and I will read what ever genre she decides to write books in.  This clever plot and great story telling grabbed my attention and didn't let go until the very last page.

If you are a fan of regency romances, The Miss Mirren Mission is definitely one to add to your list!  Jenny Holiday does a wonderful job of taking on two strong characters and weaving them into a great love story.  If you are a fan of Jenny Holiday, then I recommend you giving this historical treat a try!

MEET THE AUTHOR:

Jenny Holiday started writing in fourth grade, when her awesome hippie teacher, between sessions of Pete Seeger singing and anti-nuclear power plant letter writing, gave the kids notebooks and told them to write stories. Most of Jenny's featured poltergeist, alien invasions, or serial killers who managed to murder everyone except her and her mom. She showed early promise as a romance writer, though, because nearly every story had a happy ending: fictional Jenny woke up to find that the story had been a dream, and that her best friend, father, and sister had not, in fact, been axe-murdered. From then on, she was always writing, often in her diary, where she liked to decorate her declarations of existential angst with nail polish teardrops. Eventually she channelled her penchant for scribbling into a more useful format. After picking up a PhD in urban geography, she became a professional writer, and has spent many years promoting research at a major university, which allows her to become an armchair astronomer/historian/particle physicist, depending on the day. Eventually, she decided to try her hand again at happy endings--minus the bloodbaths. *Blog Tour Review, Excerpt & Giveaway* ROCK HARD (Rock Kiss #2) by Nalini Singh

SYNOPSIS:

In New York Times Bestselling author Nalini Singh’s newest contemporary romance, passion ignites between a gorgeous, sinfully sexy man who built himself up from nothing and a shy woman who has a terrible secret in her past…
Wealthy businessman Gabriel Bishop rules the boardroom with the same determination and ruthlessness that made him a rock star on the rugby field. He knows what he wants, and he’ll go after it no-holds-barred.

And what he wants is Charlotte Baird.

Charlotte knows she’s a mouse. Emotionally scarred and painfully shy, she just wants to do her job and remain as invisible as possible. But the new CEO—a brilliant, broad-shouldered T-Rex of a man who growls and storms through the office, leaving carnage in his wake—clearly has other plans. Plans that may be equal parts business and bedroom.

If Charlotte intends to survive this battle of wits and hearts, the mouse will have to learn to wrangle the T-Rex. Game on.

EXCERPT:

Charlotte arrived at work at seven thirty the next morning to find Gabriel Bishop’s office door open, but no carnivorous predator inside. A fresh suit was hanging on the back of his door, however, which meant he’d been in already.
Deciding to catch up on e-mails that had come in overnight from international suppliers as well as stores involved in a stock take, she was typing a reply when a sweaty Gabriel arrived fifteen minutes later. He was dressed in black running shorts and a faded University of Auckland T-shirt that was currently sticking to his body.
She’d known he was in shape, but now she realized none of it was an illusion created by his well-cut suits. Okay, she’d already known that, but seeing his muscled body in the flesh was a whole different ball game. He was built like a tank, hard and powerful.
Each of his thighs was thicker than both of hers put together, his biceps toned, his shoulders appearing even wider than usual. Everything about him was big. Civilized clothing didn’t make him look better, she realized—it toned down his intense masculinity. Out of his suits, with the ink on the upper part of his left arm exposed, as well as that on his opposing thigh and…
Her skin hot and lower body clenching, she just nodded in response to his “Good morning.”
Disappearing into his office, he returned with his suit pants and a fresh shirt slung over his arm, along with a sports bag. “Push the meeting with Sales to nine, will you, Ms. Baird? I need to talk to HR about something before then.”
“Yes, sir,” Charlotte said almost soundlessly, but he was already gone, heading toward the employee shower one floor down.
The thigh tattoo went all the way around, the design intricate.
Heart rate a rapid stutter, Charlotte got up after he disappeared and decided to go grab him a coffee. He’d bought her one yesterday after all. She was just being nice. “Oh, shut up, Charlotte,” she muttered once she was in the elevator, and slumped her face into an upraised hand.
The truth was she was running away. Only for a few minutes, but that’s what this was: strategic retreat. Gabriel Bishop was overwhelming. Once, before she’d ever met him and under the influence of cocktails, she’d told Molly she wanted to rip off his shirt and sink her teeth into his pecs.
That desire hadn’t waned even now that she knew he was a T-Rex. Of course, the desire was all strictly in her imagination. The idea of actually handling him in real life? So impossible as to be laughable. Charlie-mouse was not about to play with a predator who could eat her alive and not even notice the bones. The good news was that she could admire him in relative safety—there was no chance in hell he’d ever notice her as a woman.
Getting the coffee from a nearby cafĂ©, she took it back upstairs. He was in his office when she entered, the striped dark gray of his tie hanging around his neck and his damp hair roughly combed. The scent of clean, fresh soap over warm skin permeated the office. Shooting her a smile that turned him from gorgeous to flat-out devastating, he flipped up the collar of his white shirt to get the tie in place. “Thank you, Ms. Baird.”
Nodding, Charlotte escaped, though she really wanted to stay. She’d never realized how erotic it was to watch a man dress until this precise moment. And she shouldn’t be having these thoughts about her boss—especially since she couldn’t keep from quivering like a rabbit in his presence. Sometimes she just annoyed herself.
“Get to work,” she muttered and knuckled down.
Gabriel was fine for the first hour, but then he began barking orders even a six-armed woman with a split personality would have had trouble handling.
Finally, pushed to the edge, Charlotte snapped. “I’m going as fast as I can!” she yelled when he asked her for something a minute after he’d asked her to complete another task.
He scowled and held out a file. “This is a priority.”
Grabbing it from his hand, she said, “Fine,” and slapped it down on her desk.
It was over an hour later that he disappeared for ten minutes. When he returned, it was to put a small bakery box on her desk. “I think you need something to sweeten your mood today, Ms. Baird.”
What she needed was for the T-Rex who was her boss to stop snarling and growling, she thought as he returned to his office. Not opening the box until her curiosity had almost killed her, she found it held a slice of decadent chocolate cake with a white-chocolate ganache topped with curls of both white and milk chocolate. “I cannot be bribed with cake,” she muttered, eating a bite nonetheless.

REVIEW:

Nalini Singh is my new Author crush!  I fell in LOVE with her writing this week!  Where the heck have I been that I have never read her before? I am DEFINITELY going back to read the other 2 stories in this series and I can't wait for MORE from the Bishop clan (Sailor really needs a book).  Nalini Singh's Rock Hard is everything I love about reading romance novels; there was romance, heat, heart, laughter, tension and fantastic characters that you don't want to let go of!  (I miss my T-Rex!)  While Rock Hard is book 2 in this Rock Kiss series, Nalini does an excellent job of keeping this book easy to pick up and read as a standalone, I can't wait to go back and read Molly's story though!

Rock Hard, damn.  I loved this book!  The way this story unfolds is unique for the "office trope" we are used to getting.  Gabriel and Charlotte made this story wonderful, really putting the romance back into the genre.  Reading their story is like watching your two favorite people fall in love, it is magical and heart tuggingly awesome at the same time.  Nalini Singh has crafted two wonderful main characters, they are not cookie cutter characters, they are realistically flawed and gives us a refreshing change from Alpha Billionaire/meek secretary combos that (while I love) are getting tiresome as of late.  Charlotte's character is amazing.  She is a strong young woman that life has bruised, but not broken.  She is self aware, able to talk about what is bothering her, stands up to a T-Rex and while scared out of her mind, refuses to let her past steal her future.  Charlotte is a character that I will remember for a while, I loved watching her grow, accept and blossom during this book.  Charlotte might be a mouse, but she isn't scared to take on a a T-Rex and I love that about her character!  Gabriel (T-Rex) was a wonderful surprise!  His character is so different than what I expected that I am still blushing over my assumptions.  Gabriel is definitely the man you want to crush on!  Nalini Singh created this character brillantly, he comes off at first as cut-throat, self-absorbed and ruthless, but as the story unfolds we realize that yes he is deteremined to get what he wants, however, he is a gentle giant.  Gabriel's character was what I wish all these "alpha" males would be more like.  He was strong, in control, but understood Charlotte and gave her what she needed (no crazy dramatic male tantrums or pouting).  He was selfless with his needs and really awed me with how understanding, patiently romantic and tender he was with his Ms. Baird.  Sigh.  T-Rex is a keeper for sure!

Nalini Singh's Rock Hard was a wonderful story that had great pacing, it never dragged and kept my attention from page one until the very end (where I kept hoping more story would just appear).  The wit, the banter and the snark that comes out of Charlotte had me laughing and Gabriel's flirting and dirty talk definitely had me blushing a few times!  Rock Hard takes two people that aren't looking for love and slowly shows them that just maybe a mouse and a T-Rex are the perfect match!

I HIGHLY recommend this book!  If you are looking for a romantic read to spice up your weekend I promise you will not be disappointed!  I can't wait to go diving into Nalini Singh's backlist and discover all the wonderful stories I have missed.  Enjoy meeting Ms. Baird and the Bishop this weekend and I hope this isn't the last we will see of these two!
